Talent Development Specialist – Human Resources (Lewis Run, PA)


The focus of the Specialist is to find new talent and help manage the company-employee relationship to keep employee morale high and workers productive.

Essential Functions

  • Develops recruitment strategies to achieve required staffing levels. Sets metrics in place to know these deployed strategies are being effective
  • Evaluate and understand the Company’s image and position relative to our competitors and in the community and region as a whole. 
  • Meets and coordinates with manager(s)/supervisor(s) to develop specific recruiting plans.
  • Processes job requisitions.
  • Acts as liaison with area employment/staffing agencies, recruiters and advertising agencies, including negotiating and controlling employment-related fees.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with university, college, trade school and high school placement offices as a source to generate qualified applicants.
  • Uses traditional and nontraditional resources, such as career/job fairs, community network events, company website, social media, etc., to identify and attract quality candidates.
  • Develops advertising programs (internal and external) to ensure high visibility with potential candidates.
  • Manage internal transfer process, including screening, coordination of interviews with managers/supervisors, transfer offer letters, etc.
  • Screens resumes and applications and interviews applicants.
  • Coordinates appropriate employment assessments.
  • Provides relevant information on the area, company operations, and job opportunities to potential candidates.
  • Arranges travel and lodging for applicants, if necessary.
  • Communicates important employment information (verbal and written) during delivery of employment offers (e.g., benefits, compensation, noncompete agreements).
  • Coordinates and conducts reference, background checks and pre-employment physicals/drug testing.
  • Conducts orientation of new employees.
  • Follows up with the related clerical aspects of employment, such as notifying the department, safety, quality of employee's starting date and time, etc.
  • Manages application/resume file and retention according to company policy.
  • Organize, oversee and promote employee events and activities
  • Train, guide and coach managers and supervisors in how they can better engage their staff
  • Regularly conduct surveys, department check-ins, and other measures to help HR develop and put into practice specific employee engagement action plans.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Two years of prior related human resource experience.
  2. Bachelor’s degree, preferably in human resources.
  3. SHRM and/or HRCI Certification.
  4. Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office

On Friday, July 31st, Allegheny Bradford Corporation closed the sale of its Top Line division to Steel & O'Brien Manufacturing of Arcade, New York. Dan McCune, President and CEO of Allegheny Bradford states, "This is a win/win opportunity for both businesses, allowing Steel & O'Brien to expand its presence in the flow control technologies industry while Allegheny Bradford focuses all its energy and resources on the opportunities developing in the Bio-Pharmaceutical industry." He adds, "Allegheny Bradford is uniquely positioned to take advantage of the developing US policy of on-shoring America's medical supply chain."

Over the next couple of months, the Top Line operations will be integrated into the Steel & O'Brien operations, which will create much needed manufacturing floor space for Allegheny Bradford. This sale, along with the changing business environment and the Allegheny Bradford's ongoing process improvement programs, gives the Corporation the ability to excel in coming years.

First, I just want to say that our hearts go out to everyone impacted by this global pandemic. We extend our heartfelt wishes to anyone who is sick for their full recovery. As much as this pandemic tries to bring morale down, we are inspired every day by selfless healthcare workers and first responders.

Gov. Tom Wolf closed all non-life-sustaining businesses in Pennsylvania due to COVID-19.  We are exempt and we will continue to ship high-quality equipment, components, and provide services in support of our customer’s efforts to supply the nation with life-sustaining food and medicine.   

Our Safe Workplace Plan

We want to maintain a safe workplace and adopt practices to protect the health of our employees, customers, visitors, and others.  We have asked all of our employees to cooperate in taking steps to reduce the transmission of communicable diseases in the workplace.  

  > Employees are encouraged to follow CDC and WHO guidelines like staying home when they are sick, washing their hands frequently, and using sanitizers in high touch areas.
  > We are deep cleaning the buildings every Friday evening as employees go home.  We support natural disinfecting by keeping the buildings closed from Friday evening until Monday morning.

  > We are taking preventative actions like workplace social distancing through the limiting of third party facility access, limiting inter-facility employee contact, and many employees are working from home.
  > Employees are encouraged to use telephone and video conferencing instead of face-to-face meetings as much as possible.
